Arden Jones, an Atlantic Records artist & musician, selling Ethereum NFTs of his hit song to fulfill his wish to pay off strangers’ parking tickets. To support Jones’ Parallel Parking Fund, the single Parallel Parking was recently released through the music NFT platform Sound.xyz. This song is the one that collected nearly 25 million streams to date across platforms like Apple Music and Spotify.
Fans of Arden Jones can submit their unpaid parking tickets to the project through Instagram or Twitter. And all the funds from the NFT sales will go into a community wallet to pay off randomly selected submissions. Collectors can buy the NFT of the song through Sound.xyz for 0.05 ETH, which is a kind of contribution to the fund. This NFT drop coincides with the second anniversary of the original release of the song, which went viral and gave huge success and popularity to Arden Jones.
According to the 27th of January report from Decrypt, Arden told that a lot of parking tickets, especially in Los Angeles, are given out unnecessarily and excessively. I also feel that so many ‘No Parking’ signs in Los Angeles are purposefully confusing and are set up to make money, he added. Till today, around 18 Parallel Parking NFTs have been sold out of a possible 100, from which about 0.9 ETH, worth about $1,440, are added to the fund. However, with this amount, Arden could pay off some parking tickets.
This move from Arden Jones is to promote himself and get into the NFT music industry. And the platform he chose to do this is Sound.xyz, which is considered one of the best platforms in the emerging music NFT market. This NFT music marketplace allows artists to connect directly with fans. This platform not only hosted Arden Jones’ song, as previously, but it also hosted drops by Snoop Dogg, RAC, and Pussy Riot, due to which, the music NFT platform led $5 million in 2021 by VC giant Andreessen Horowitz.
